* Orlando Magic defeats Boston Celtics 87-79 Grant Hill
tallied 21 points and Dwight Howard scored 18 and
pulled in 12 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic basketball
team to an 87-79 victory over the Boston Celtics. Grant
Hill made 4 of 6 field goals and hit 13 of 14 free throws,
Dwight Howard connected on 5 of 13 from the field and made
8 of 12 from the free throw line. The Magic made 32 of 45
free throws while the Celtics made 29 of 34. Orlando led the
Southeast Conf with a 21-14 mark, Boston fell to 12-21.
* San Antonio Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 110-96 Manu
Ginobilli scored a season best 34 points to help San Antonio
break a three game losing streak. The redhot shooting Manu
Ginobilli made 10 of 15 field goals, including 6 of 8
three-pointers. Gasol led Memphis with 24 points, making
9 of 16 FG. San Antonio is 24-11 for the season, while the
Memphis Grizzles fell to 8-27, the worst record in the NBA.

* Miami Heat tops Portland Trailblazers 93-90 Dwyane Wade
returned from a 4-game layoff due to an injured wrist and
led both teams with 33 points, including 25 in the first half.
The Heat rallied from 16 points down and broke a 5-game
losing streak. Dwyane Wade made 9 of 17 FGA and sank
15 of 17 free throws. Portland shot just 7 free throws, making
5 of them. Meanwhile Miami made 25 of 30 from the line.
Attendance: Portland 19,980.
* Minnesota Timberwolves beats Houston Rockets 103-99
Kevin Garnett hit 11 of 24 from the field, made 4 of 4 FT
and posted 13 rebounds to help Minnesota win its 4th in a
row. Houston’s Tracy McGrady led both teams with 31
points, making 12 of 29 field goals, and 5 of 10 free throws.
Blount scored 21 for Minnesota. Houston’s Battier had 20
points and Howard 19. Minnesota is 17-15 for 2006-07,
Houston is 21-13.

* New York Knicks 106 Philadelphia 76ers 99 Guard Stephen
Marbury scored 24 points and center Eddy Curry had 20 points
and 10 rebounds to help the Knicks basketball team defeat the
76ers before 18,931 fans in NY Madison Square Garden. It
was the New Yorkers fifth straight home victory. Richardson
hit on 5 of 8 three-point field goals and had 19 points to help
the Knicks improve to 16-21, while the 76ers fell to 9-26.
* Houston Rockets 102 Los Angels Lakers 77 Juwan Howard
scored a season-best 23 points and Rafer Alston hit 20 to
propel the Houston Rockets basketball team to a 102-77
drubbing of the LA Lakers. Juwan Howard hit 10 of 20
field goals and Rafer Alston made 8 of 19 for Houston,
who have won 7 of 9 games since All Star center Yao Ming
went on the disabled list. 18,331 were in attendance in
Houston. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 20 points on
6 for 18 FGA.

Andrew Bogut led Bucks with 17 points and pulled in
a robust 18 rebounds for the losing Milwaukee, 16-19
for 2007. Toronto improved record to 16-20.

* Orlando Magic drops Golden State Warriors 91-76 Magic
center Dwight Howard sunk 11 of 18 field goals, and hit
8 free throws to help the SE Conference Orlando Magic
improve its record to 22-14. Bogans scored 16 points and
Dooling 13 for the visiting winners. Ellis led the Warriors
with 14. Golden State fell to 18-19 for the season. At: 16,877

* New Jersey Nets beat Chicago Bulls 86-83. It looked like
an old fashioned defensive battle played between the Nets and
Bulls before 21,931 fans in the Chicago Stadium. Nets’ guard
Jason Kidd led both teams with 23 points, on 8 of 17 FG, plus
4 FT, and 11 assists. Teammate guard Vince Carter scored 18,
with 6 assists. Bulls center Ben Wallace played in the second
quarter with a wrapped up sore back, and played just 29 minutes
total for the game. With Bulls Malik Allen unable to play
because of stained left calf, coach Scott Skiles inserted Viktor
Khryapa, who 15 minutes and scored 2 points.
