John Morton had a stellar college career under coach PJ Carlesimo with Seton Hall during the late 1980s. John Morton and the Seton Hall Pirates fans had a season to remember in 1988-1989. In March of 1989 in the NCAA postseason tournament Morton scored 13 points in a 95-78 Seton Hall win over Duke in the semi-finals.
In the NCAA Championship Final John hit on all cylinders in a Seton Hall 80-79 overtime loss to the Michigan Wolverines. Morton, a senior, led both teams with 35 points - 17 of those coming in the last eight minuters of play. John was voted to the 1989 NCAA Tournament's First Team All Stars.
John Morton was the 25th basketball player selected in the 1990 NBA draft (by the Cleveland Cavaliers). He can certainly be proud of having his 'Days of Glory' on the hardcourt.
