Basketball Historian Biography

Dave Gambee had a hustling-style of play which left a positive impression for most hometown fans during his fine 12 year NBA career.

A standout forward at Oregon State University, Dave Gambee was the 6th player chosen in the 1958 National Basketball Association, NBA, draft (by the St. Louis Hawks).

A willingness to play hard off the bench and play with a winning atitude helped the teams Dave Gambee played for make it into the postseason NBA playoffs 7 times, including 3 times with the Syracuse Nationals, 1960-61 thru 1962-63, and 4 times with the Philadelphia 76ers, 1963-64 thru 1966-67. In 43 playoff games Dave Gambee chalked up 367 points in 840 minutes spanning 43 games, averaging 8.5 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.
