A towering 7-ft 3-inch center, Swede Halbrook was a standout basketball player at Oregon State prior to joining the NBA in 1960 with the Syracuse Nationals. He played two seasons with the Nats and scored 786 points, 307 FGM in 885 FGA, a .347 pct, 172 FTM in 291 FTA, .591 pct. He was drafted as a freshman in 1956 but decided not to join the NBA until 1960.
IN 1960-61 Harvey Halbrook helped Syracuse reached the playoffs. He played in 8 games, making 62 points, for a 7.8 ppg average and grabbed 83 rebounds, 10.4 rpg. |
